Why Does My Business Need A Website?

In an age when customers research products and businesses online before making a buying decision, every business needs a website, including yours.

Here’s our list of the top reasons why a website is essential for your business:

  • Selling your products or services – a website is a showcase and storefront for your products and services, open 24/7. Even if you are a traditional brick-and-mortar store, a website lets your customers know what products you sell.
  • Marketing channel – there are many marketing techniques that can take advantage of your website to target a larger market and generate more leads.
  • Connect with customers – engage your customers with content not just sales material. Show them what you are passionate about and your website becomes a useful resource they will keep returning to.
  • Credibility/Legitimacy/Trust – various studies show that 60% or more of consumers expect businesses to provide content about themselves online.
  • Your competitors all have company websitesconsumers typically start their buying journey with research and recommendations from peers and social network connections. Once they have an idea of what they need or want, they start researching, and 81% of them go online to find educational material, reviews, and testimonials. If you’re not keeping up with your competitors, you are giving consumers a reason to buy from another brand.
  • Customer service – answer questions your customers may have at any time by providing a Frequently Asked Questions page about your products, services or company.
  • Appear in Google search results81% of consumers perform online research before making a purchase. Without a website, the chances of showing up in a search engine are zero. With a website, you can optimise it for search engines and increase your chances of appearing in potential customer’s search results.
  • A resource for your staff – use your website to provide access to information and forms for your staff. Combined with automation, your website can make your staff more efficient serving and selling to your customers.

Note that last point. While a website is primarily to serve your customers, it is also a great way to help your employees do their job. By providing knowledge bases, key product information or even forms that automate tasks, all in a secure area, your employees can use the same website to serve your customers.

How do we build your website?

Websites should be functional and relevant to your business. We take a structured approach to developing websites that provide useful content to your customers and your employees as well.

We start by working with you to identify and prioritise the things that are important to you and your business; who you are, what you do and what you have to offer. It’s important that your website tells your story.

We use WordPress as the basis of websites we build and have chosen a set of plugins and tools that give our clients consistently great results. Of course, we only use responsive themes so your customers can access your site on their mobile devices.

Updating Content

You should be able to make changes to the content on your website without calling your web developer every time so we use Beaver Builder and Toolset Components. This enables us to intelligently template and layout your content. We can configure your website to allow content editing by authorised employees.

Structured Information

The information in your business is a strategic asset, one that is often overlooked when developing a website.

Using Toolset Components we can create custom taxonomies and fields for the information in your business. By representing the information that is important to your business, we can create websites that use this information in a reusable way.

As an example, if you are a Real Estate Agent, property listings are a key asset in your business. We create a custom taxonomy for property listings, with fields to contain property information (number of bedrooms, bathrooms etc.) and then create a template and custom views to display properties on your website.

Why do this? It means if you want to change the way properties are displayed on your website we can make a change to the template and it updates everywhere the template is used on your website.

Need automation?

If you want your website to be more than just a website we can integrate it with automation tools to automate your marketing and other business processes. See our Jump Start for more information on getting started with automation.
